Ukrainian Jews Ambivalent About Yushchenko

JTA seems to write a version of this story every six months or so. I don't intend this as a criticism of their journalism; I think it reflects the feelings of many Jews in Ukraine, some of whom see him as the beacon of hope for a "European" future, but at the same time worry about some of the openly antisemitic politicians who made up the original (i.e. Our Ukraine/Tymoshenko/Socialists) Orange coalition.

This story shows the latest poll findings that confirm racist sentiment is rising in Russia. Another story cites President Putin's top political advisor warning that rising xenophobia will destroy the country if present trends are allowed to continue. LA Times Reports 4,000 Take Part in "Russian March"

This LA Times article paints a much darker picture of the march than other accounts I've seen, which characterize it as an utter failure by the Russian far-right. In this article, the number of marchers is listed as 4,000 (compared to 1,000 anti-facsist marchers), whereas other media accounts list 1,000 from each side. Generally, I think the LA Times does a better job reporting Russia than other US papers, but I wonder why their numbers are so different.
